After a long break from blogging, I'm back and the typing fingers are rattling with buzz. Today's list of brain food is short but still good, so let's get right down to it.
- Dan D'Andrea pointed me in the direction of this Internet Explorer Developers Toolbar posted on MSDN. I've been using it extensively in a web robot project I'm working on for Bono 2.0 and a client. Of particular note was the ruler feature, the DOM tree and ability to disable scripting, images, CSS and more.
- If that wasn't enough, I also finally found a use for Fiddler. Fiddler is an HTTP sniffer that watches web requests coming to and from your computer. It shows detailed header and post information, as well as hex/binary/text views of HTTP 1.1 streams (that are compressed).
- I downloaded an evaluation beta of CodeSmith 4.0. I've used CodeSmith templates in the past for the O/R mapping solution in Bono. I promised an O/RM solution for version 2.0 that would be built into Bono and not require a third party tool. The development process on this templating engine has been snaggy, as I expected it might be. I'm evaluating the possibility of releasing the custom OR/M solution at a later date instead. The primary factor that drives this decision will be perceived demand from my focus group for this feature. I will post an article about the CodeSmith evaluation soon.
- I'm going to format my laptop this weekend and try out the much anticipated Windows Vista RC1 with Microsoft Office 2007. The laptop has the same build as 18 months ago and suffered from O/S degradation. Notwithstanding the argument that Windows XP is the most stable Windows yet, ever notice how every version of Windows promises to be the most stable yet?
- Wired Magazine put out a great article about challenges facing Microsoft as it works to continue building without Gates. This is my read of the week.
- Michelle and I came back from Boston about 2 weeks ago. We're down in the Tampa area for good now. It was a beautiful drive and we went stopped in Philadelphia for a short visit. If you're in the area, we recommend Bookbinders. I collected 11 new shot glasses over the 4 months we were away this summer, a sizable contribution to my collection.
As much fun as all that was, it's been mostly business since my return. I have gotten some exciting new work with an old client (which I'm enjoying) as well as time to spend working on Bono 2.0. Also, Michelle and I are buying our first home together, so there's quite a bit of work to do. I keep making promises to continue blogging (which sometimes go unfulfilled). We'll see what happens.

About President
I am the owner and President of estatic.org, Inc. -- a small software consultantcy based out of Saint Petersburg, Florida. I enjoy technology, the History Channel, golf, and trying a new beer for the first time. My wife and I recently spent the summer of 2006 living in Boston, MA.
Technology really excites me -- I eat, sleep and dream about business and how technology plays a critical role in many business transactions most of the time. I've written this blog as an attempt to appeal to others who think in a similar way.
